This briefing paper was prepared to help humanitarian and development practitioners protect and empower LGBTIQ+ youth by including them in response to crises and program adaptations. Written following the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic and response, it highlights the ways that LGBTIQ+ youth were particularly impacted by COVID-19, and the ways in which current government response did not meet their unique needs. It provides examples from Lebanon, Indonesia and Kenya, and provides specific examples for inclusion, as well as cluster-specific recommendations for WASH, Health, Child Protection, Education, and how to include LGBTIQ+ organisations as drivers of change.
