This report by the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) studies the trends of Asian and Pacific countries in harmonising their national laws with the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD). It examines the extent to which reporting obligations have been fulfilled in a timely and substantive manner and the ways in which national human rights institutions and civil society organisations, in particular organisations of persons with disabilities, have been involved in that process. It further analyses good practices in harmonisation and common challenges in relation to the implementation of the CRPD in the region and the five countries covered under this research project.
