Disaster preparedness
The Asia and Pacific regions are highly susceptible to disaster events. Disaster preparedness focuses on proactively mitigating disaster risks before they escalate into disasters.
Australia is committed to supporting DRR strategies that are inclusive, and acknowledges that people with disabilities face heightened risks during disasters due to inaccessible preparedness measures, warning systems, and evacuation facilities. Integrating disability inclusion into disaster preparedness policies, processes, and activities is vital for reducing disaster risks for the whole society.
