Disability inclusion for people living in displacement
Displacement situations often disproportionately impact people with disabilities. Australia is committed to ensuring disability inclusion in responses to displacement, in line with the CRPD Article 11, which seeks to uphold the rights of people with disabilities during situations of risk and humanitarian emergencies. People with disabilities experience heightened challenges during displacement, often due to physical accessibility barriers, reduced support from family members, discriminatory migration laws, and inaccessible information, plans, and evacuation procedures.
Resources in this section provide evidence and guidance to progress disability inclusion within displacement contexts.
