In recent years, the care economy has emerged as a pivotal element in the global discourse on development, especially in low and middle-income countries (LMICs). This sector holds immense potential not only for reducing gender inequalities and creating employment opportunities, but also for bolstering overall economic growth. Investment in the care economy can affect the overall economy in multiple ways. The intersection between the objectives of the care agenda and those of disability inclusion presents a unique opportunity to further these economic objectives.

Against this background, this report explores the interdependent relationship between the care economy and disability inclusion, and emphasises the mutual benefits of a holistic approach to care and support systems. The report aims to offer a comprehensive overview of disability inclusion in the care economy, as well as the barriers to and strategies for advancing disability-inclusive care investments.
